The Pivot
For nearly two decades—eighteen years, to be exact, my professional life was defined by the world of Ethical Banking and Finance. It was a journey built on discipline, structure, and scale. I saw firsthand the potential of ethical finance to shape markets.

But recently, I realized that potential wasn’t fully being realized where it mattered most: at the grassroots, in the heart of our communities. I found myself asking the question that began ROTA Financial Technologies Ltd.

Could I pivot my expertise to build something that was not just ethical but profoundly empathetic?

That question led me to a monumental change: moving away from institutional finance and dedicating myself fully to Social Finance.

The Alignment
This pivot wasn’t merely a career move; it was a values alignment. I was searching for the place where People, Product, and Purpose could finally harmonize with what I truly value.

The old model, however ethical, often prioritizes the institution. The new model—Social Finance—prioritizes the human being. My purpose now is crystal clear: to create innovative, non-interest bearing financial products and services that don’t just comply with a rulebook, but actively service people and make a measurable impact on their lives.

This is the foundation of our work in Kenya.

Digitizing Trust
We know that in places like Kenya, the strongest financial institutions aren’t necessarily the banks; they are the communities themselves. They have long relied on ROSCAs, or Chamas—Rotating Savings and Credit Associations—societies built on inherent trust and mutual support.

This mechanism is beautiful and time-tested, but it’s limited by paper ledgers and geography. Our company was founded to address this gap.

We created the ROTA technology platform to digitize these circles of trust. We are not replacing the ROSCA; we are amplifying it, providing digital tools that add transparency, efficiency, and security to a system that already works, creating a new generation of non-interest bearing community finance.
